Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zırh devotes all of his time, work and energy to the treatment of movement disorders and the evaluation of patients who are candidates for surgical treatment, preparation for surgery, and post-operative neurostimulation programming. Unlike his colleagues who made similar attempts, movement disorder surgery and Deep Brain Stimulation treatment constitute the entire professional practice of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zırh.

Having been training and practicing the diagnosis, treatment and surgeries of Movement Disorders since 1988, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zırh received training at Toronto Western Hospital, Division of Neurosurgery in 1995; In 1996, he worked completely on this subject at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Division of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery; He participated in many courses and training meetings abroad on these surgeries and Deep Brain stimulators programming.

Nearly all of the neurosurgical operations he has performed since 1994 are movement disorder surgical interventions, Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Ali Zırh. has been performing these surgeries in Turkey since 1997. In 1997, he implemented the microelectrode and recording system at the single cell level, which was a breakthrough in these surgical interventions, for the first time in our country after a few centers in the USA, and he still performs every surgery with this technique.

Thanks to the microelectrode recording and stimulation technique, the locations of the cells responsible fort he disease in the brain can be found with a margin of error of less than 80 microns in awake surgeries; This method significantly increases the chance of success of the surgery and minimizes the risk of complications.

Thanks to this technology and experience, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zırh. received the international "Elekta" award,which is given to only one neurosurgeon in functional neurosurgery every four years, with his work titled "Human thalamic nucleus mediating taste and multiple other sensations related to ingestive behavior" at Johns Hopkins University.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Zırh. is a member of many international associations and organizations. He attends international scientific meetings abroad at least 5 times a year, shares his knowledge and experiences with fellow experts in the field, and ensures that his patients benefit from these developments without wasting time by informing them promptly of the latest scientific data and technological developments.

More than 30 years of clinicaland surgical experience in the field of Functional Neurosurgery, which is hisspecialty until today; More than 1500 surgical interventions for Parkinson's and other Movement Disorders and more than 1000 Deep Brain Stimulation surgeries that he has successfully performed, made Assoc.
