What Are the Symptoms of Dystonia?

We can list the clearest symptoms of dystonia, whichare generally seen in adults and rarely in young people, as follows:

  • Sudden cramps in the feet
  • Involuntary neck contractions
  • Involuntary contractions of the feet
  • Difficulty on speaking
  • Sudden blink of the eyes

In general, it is observed that the symptoms are mildin the early stages, and the severity of the symptoms may vary according to factors such as the age, genetic structure, and profession of the person. What Are the Forms of Dystonia?

There are basically five different forms of dystonia. Focal dystonia affects a limited area of the body; segmental dystonia seen inclose areas; generalized dystonia that starts in a certain region and spreadsto different regions over time; multifocal dystonia that can be observed indifferent regions at the same time, although not in close proximity to each other; and classified as hemodystonia that can be observed in the limbs on thesame side.
